Obituary of Michael A. Murphy

Michael A. Murphy passed away June 27, 2019 in Niagara Hospice House.  Born March 6, 1949 in Lockport he was the son of William W. and Genevieve G. (McCormick) Murphy.  Michael served in the US Army 1970 to 1972 earning the National Defense Service Medal.  He worked for Harrison Radiator for 38 years retiring in 2003.  Michael was a member of the American Legion and Chestnut Meadows Men’s Club.  He enjoyed golfing, listening to live music, tending to his yard, and cars especially hot rods.

Michael is survived by his son, Shawn (Nancy) Murphy; grandchildren Rhys and Shawn Jr.; longtime companion Paula Scheffer; sister Sharon (late John) Morello; nieces Susie (Mike) Zafrano and Molly (Steve) Williams; and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2nd at 12 Noon.  Memorial donations to Niagara Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
