Obituary of Marion Bartholomew

Marion E. Bartholomew passed away at age 95, on May 23, 2019 in Niagara Hospice House.  Born May 17, 1924 in Hartland, NY she was the daughter of Alfred and Hazel (Penwright) Alvord.  Marion worked for Harrison Radiator Div of GM in production during WW II and for Bartholomew Plumbing & Heating.  She was active in Home Bureau, various card clubs, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, word search puzzles, and everything butterflies.  But most of all she loved spending time with her family.  Marion spent her winters in Hollywood, FL for 25 years where she enjoyed spending time on the boardwalk.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, John Bartholomew, of 53 years.  Marion was a gentle, loving mother of Bonnie (William Hamilton) Norvaisa Wright and Marcia “Marci” (David) Benedict; grandmother of Charles Cummings II, Kira (Patrick), Kelly, Bart (Sherri) Cummings, Briana Cummings, Terri (Matthew) Benedict Tanger, David (Sherri) Benedict, Jr., and Marissa (Jason) Tanger; four great grandchildren Aaron Tanger, Connor Tanger, John Benedict, and Kara Benedict; siblings Alma Meiklejohn, and late Edward “Bud” Alvord, Delores Serusa, and Norma Balon; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday, Oct. 26th from 2-4 PM with a memorial service immediately following at 4 PM all in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.
