Obituary of Lyman Wilson

Lyman Charles Wilson passed away August 9, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born October 26, 1927 in Lockport he was the son of the late Benjamin W. and Eleanor (Frentz) Wilson. Lyman served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Lyman returned from service and went to work for the City of Lockport as a police officer retiring in 1989 after 35 years on the force. Lyman was a member to the Fraternal order of Eagles 825, Knights of Columbus, the Hickory Club, B. Leon Dolan Post 410 American Legion, and the Agitators Club.
Lyman is survived by his wife of 58 years Colletta (Layer) Wilson of Lockport whom he married in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Lockport; father of Lyman G. (Lucia) Wilson of North Tonawanda and David P. (Marilyn) Wilson of Wakeforest, NC; grandfather of Travis Wilson, Shannon Wilson, Scott Wilson and Brandon Wilson; brother of Betty Neden, Norma James, Linda Lipscomb all of Lockport, the late Benjamin Wilson and Margaret L. Moran; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to American Lung Association of WNY, 210 John Glenn Drive, #3, Buffalo, NY 14228 would be appreciated by the family.
