Obituary of Pegi Jean Murrell
Pegi Jean (Williams) Murrell passed away April 7, 2019 in Newfane Rehab & Health Care Center. Born September 27, 1934 in Calexico, CA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eona (Kelley) Williams. Pegi worked as a dispatcher for the Imperial County Sherriff’s Department in El Centro, CA where she met her husband, Robert K. Murrell, who predeceased her in January 2002. After relocating to western New York in 1972, she worked as a waitress at Garlock’s Restaurant and eventually retired as a clerk from Tops Grocery Store both in Lockport. Pegi enjoyed listening to music and dancing, spending time with her family in New York and California, and planting her garden in the spring.
Pegi is survived by her children Lorna King, Deanna (Stephen) Dorward, Todd (Michelle) King, and Dan (Rachelle) Murrell; step-children Jim (Diane) Murrell, Jeff (Inga) Murrell, and Jackie (Dan) Murrell; grandchildren Tom (Alison) Byrne, Christine (Brad Hinkley) Dorward, Emily Dorward, Aaron (Nikki) Parmenter, Ash West, Jason (Brittney) King, Jordyn King, Cole Murrell, Kylee Murrell, Cooper Murrell, and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her much-adored sister, Elizabeth (Ted) Mailheau. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack (Celeste) Williams, and sister, Shirley Thomas. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the Memorial Service to be held in her honor on Saturday, April 27th from 4-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. In lieu of flowers, donations to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
