Obituary of Carl W. Blackley Jr.
Carl W. Blackley Jr. passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019. Born in Lockport on December 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Ida Kirkman Blackley Sr. He attended local schools including Lockport High School, Erie County Technical Institute, and the University at Buffalo. He served in the US Army Medical Corps during WWII and was discharged in 1947. Mr. Blackley was a Certified Safety Specialist, he worked at Carborundum Co., Allied Chemical Co., Bell Aerospace Co. and retired from Occidental Chemical Co in 1992. He was a member of WNY Safety Conference and the Bow Rod and Gun Club and he enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Blackley is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou (nee Shanley) Blackley, who passed away April 4, 2013.
He is survived by his children, Brian (Denise) Blackley, Timothy D. (Late Stacy Kenyon) Blackley, MariJo (Mark) Thistle, Sean (Michelle) Blackley, Patrick (late Laura) Blackley, Erin Blackley, and the late Kevin Blackley; Grandfather of sixteen and Great Grandfather of six. Mr. Blackley was the brother of Rosemary Bower, the late Richard Blackley, and the late Rowland Blackley Sr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 24th 3-6 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 25th at 12 PM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
