Ilvio Claudio Neglia passed away peacefully November 17, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born October 1, 1923 in Monteroni di Lecce, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Miglietta Albina Consiglia Neglia. Ilvio was the beloved husband of 57 years to Amelia Trifone Neglia of Lockport. Father of Gianna A. (Thomas Cleveland) Mesler of Amherst, Claudio C. (Mary Beth) Neglia of Lockport and Sandra K. (Robert) Miller of Indianapolis; loving grandfather of David M. and Jason C. Mesler, Alyssa M. and Jamison M. Neglia , Catherine M. and Alexander R. Miller. He was the beloved brother of the late Franco Neglia of Italy and will be missed by five sisters, all of Italy, extended family member Dana M. Mesler of Amherst and lifelong friends Letta (Late, Stanley) Butcher of Lockport.
Claudio was a professional musician in Italy and served in the Italian Navy. In 1954, He immigrated to the U.S. and worked at Simonds Saw and Steel for 30 years. After retirement, Claudio and his wife moved to Stuart, Florida, where they resided for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and coffee with his friends.
Friends may call Sunday 1 to 5 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
