Richard Blackley Obituary

Richard D. Blackley, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on August 7, 2009 surrounded by the family he cherished.


He retired in 1999 from the safety business and later served as president of the Lockport City Zoning Board. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Bow, Rod and Gun Club for 54 years-but his greatest joy in life came from his family. .


He was born on May 10, 1935 the son of Carl and Ida Blackley (Kirkman). He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa Blackley (Sammarco), daughters Tina (Paul) Lamont, Lisa (Jay) Ridgeway, Lori Thompson, Christa (John) Wright, nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Carl (Mary Lou) Blackley, Roland Blackley, and Rosemary Bower. .


Friends may call Monday evening 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday Morning at 10 AM in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 391 Market Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday Morning at 10 AM in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 391 Market Street, Lockport.

Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
