Obituary of Betty Shaver
Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Shaver was born on November 21, 1929 to Edward Leo and Amelia Donahue in Albion, NY. Betty departed to join her loving husband Harry on December 24, 2018. Betty graduated from St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph Business School. She married the love of her life, Harold A. Shaver, in 1949. Betty and Harry lovingly and generously welcomed numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends into their lives.
Betty was a long term employee of Harrison Radiator progressing through various jobs to the position of Executive Assistant to the General Manager. Betty received numerous honors for her community activities. She was an active member and served as an officer in United Way, St. Joseph Academy Alumni Association, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and VFW, and St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society. Betty was devoted to her Catholic faith. Betty’s loving heart touched countless people in the area.
Betty is survived by her nieces and nephews Marilyn (Bill) Rix, Elizabeth Cobb, Robert (Alane) Donahue, Kathleen (Steve) Black, Thomas (Debbie) Donahue, Ann (Don) Theis, the late Jack (Marjorie) Haenle, Ellen Kander, Michael (Vicki) Haenle, Mark Haenle, David, Patrick and James Cathcart. She was pre-deceased by her husband Harry (2005), parents, brother Leo Donahue and sister Doris Klein.
Calling hours at Prudden and Kandt on Friday, December 28 from 4-6 PM. A celebration of her life will be held at All Saints Church (St. Patrick’s) in Lockport on Saturday, December 29 at 11 AM.
