Althea M. Wheatley, 94 years, beloved wife of the late Richard Wheatley entered into eternal rest on Tuesday December 11th, 2018 at Lockport Rehab. Althea is the daughter of the late Leo and Cecelia Roskopf. A graduate of St. John the Baptist Parochial School and Lockport High, she worked at the Lockport Cotton Batting Company until starting a family. Althea was a busy Mom raising six children, a meals on wheels volunteer and enjoyed cooking, sewing, camping and played a mean game of cards. She was a member of St John’s Parish in Lockport and St Bridget’s Church and Senior group in Newfane. Together with her husband they traveled in their RV after retirement across the the US and Canada and then settled in Eustis, Florida for the winter months.

Althea was the loving mother of Richard (Christine) Wheatley of Florida, Carol (late Ron) Gala of Lockport, Joan (Fred) Boeheim of Williamsville, Cindy (Larry) Brown of Lancaster, Steve (Andrea) Wheatley of North Carolina and the late Mark Wheatley. She was also the cherished Grandma and Gram to fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was the eldest sister to Lucille Benjamin, Agnes Simon and Don and Bob Roskopf, all since deceased. She is survived by sisters-in-law Mary Jane Roskopf of Lockport and Shirley Roskopf of Michigan.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Monday, December 17 th at 10AM, St John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St, Lockport. Internment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials in her name can be sent to St. John’s Food Pantry.
