Obituary of Anthony Pusateri

Anthony L. "Joe" Pusateri, a prominent Lockport Attorney, passed away November 7,2010 peacfully in Niagara Hospice House surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 21,1911 he was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Scinta) Pusateri. He attended Lockport City Schools graduating from Lockport Senior High School in 1928 and from Georgetown University in 1932 Cum Laude. He attended Cornell Law School for one year then transferred to the University of Buffalo School of Law, graduating in 1936 at the top of his class and as class President. Anthony served in the Niagara County District Attorney's Office from 1940 to 1947 and then entered into private practice, specializing in criminal and municipal law. He tried many cases in Niagara and Erie Counties and also before the Appellate Court in Rochester, NY. After more than 40 years of practice he retired as Senior Partner of Andrews, Pusateri, Brant, Robeson and Brandt. For many years the firm represented six area Townships and three School Districts, also the Niagara County Water District, the Niagara County Sewer District and special situations for other governing bodies. He also served as the Town of Lockport Town Justice. After retirement Anthony lived in Palm Beach FL for 20 years. He loved the game of golf playing three times a week into the early 90's. He was a longtime member of the Lockport Town and Country Club and the Breakers Golf Club in Palm Beach. A member of many local clubs and service organizations, he served as President of the Community Fund, Red Cross Senior Chamber of Commerce, J.C.'s, Tuscarora Club, Kiwanis Club and the Lawyer's Club. Also a longtime member of the New York State and Niagara County Bar Associations and served on theBoard of Directors of the Marine Midland Bank. Anthony was predeceased by his wife Mary (Gallagher) Pusateri in 1993. He is survived by four sons William (Cynthia) Pusateri of Lockport, Thomas (Jane Ferguson) Pusateri of Lyons, NY, Michael (Donna Whitmore) Pusateri of St. Petersburg, Fl., and Robert (Terry) Pusateri of West Seneca; ten grandchildren Greg (Judy), Christopher, Maria, Nicole, Michael Jr. and David Pusateri, Dana (Adam) Denberg, Maureen (Patrick) Kuciewski, Meghan (Anthony) Lama and Erin (Gregory) Keaney; and 9 Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister Sarah P. Glover and his brother Francis C. Pusateri. Friends may call Wednesday November 10th, 5 to 8 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Thursday morning at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials to Niagara Hospice or to the Church would be appreciated by the family. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call Wednesday November 10th, 5 to 8 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Thursday morning at 10 AM. <h3>Services</h3> A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C.
