Earl Cortlan White passed away November 4, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. Born January 26, 1924 in Ontario Canada, he was the son of the late Frederick and Matilda Bierling White. He married Shirley Mae Sullivan on June 24, 1950, who passed away on October 11, 1999. Earl was the father of Nancy (John) DiNicolantonio, Lynn (Jerry) Mott, Beth Ann Warmkessel Blackman, Judy (Timothy) Kelley, Kelly Jean, Jeffery (Charlene Logan) White and Earl (Ann) White Jr; grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 5.
Earl was a 1st. Lt. in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943 until 1945. He successfully completed the Advanced Flying School in Blytheville, Arkansas and the Advanced Instrument School in Lubbock, Texas. He was a Pilot flying the B-17 Bomber in the European Theater, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Central Europe, and Northern Apennines, where he earned The European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Earl & Shirley owned and operated The Pot 0' Gold Bar & Grill on West Genesee Street in Lockport from 1972 until their retirement in 1999
In his younger years Earl loved to fish and bowl but was best known around Western N.Y. as an excellent Pool Player proudly winning several Individual and Team Championships over many years and earning his nickname "Earl The Pearl."
There will be no prior visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Ed and Shirley White's name would be appreciated by the family.
