Obituary of Melanie Sue Joy
Melanie S. Joy passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at age 64 after a battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Joy and Susan Healey. She is survived by sisters Judith of Newport NH and Kathleen (Robert) Joy-Krahn of Williamsville, NY. She was also the niece of the late Anthony Gioia (Donna). In addition to her sisters and Aunt, Melanie is survived by two nephews, Robert Flynn II (Linda) and Allen Flynn (Chastity), nephew Robert Flynn III and nieces Courtney, Hannah, Julia and Kara Flynn.
Melanie loved the outdoors and had previously volunteered at both the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge and Beaver Meadow Audubon Center in Java NY. She had been employed by the Transportation Security Administration and various security companies in the Houston, TX area.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport NY on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. A donation may be made in Melanie’s memory to Beaver Meadow Audubon Center (www.buffaloaudubon.org/donate.php) or to Lake Sunapee VNA & Hospice Care (https://lakesunapeevna.org/donate).
