Obituary of John M. Ohar

John M. Ohar passed away May 2, 2018 in Buffalo General Medical Center.  Born on September 10, 1946 in Buffalo, NY son of George and Evelyn (Tschaepe) Ohar.   John proudly served in the US Army from 1969-1971 being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, 1 O/S Bar, the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device.  He was an engineer for Washington Mills in Niagara Falls.  John was a member of the Tonawanda and Clarence Sportsman Clubs and loved to shoot, go fishing and enjoyed reading.

John is survived by his wife Gretchen (Steinwachs) Ohar; children Jennifer (Chris) Scott, Megan Ohar, and J. David Ohar; grandchildren Matthew and Emily; siblings Bonnie (John) Vitale, George (Jan) Ohar, Kim (Bob) McCormick, Greg (Molly) Ohar, Cindy (Ron) Snyder, and Glenn (Marlene) Ohar; several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, May 8, from 4-7PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
