Obituary of Mary M. Burns
Mary M. Burns passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in DuBois, PA. on June 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Frank Kolek and Mary (Henry) Margevich Robertson. Mary graduated from Barker Central High School in 1952. She worked as a Bank Teller for Unit #1 Federal Credit Union, which is now Cornerstone FCU. Mary was an active member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, where she volunteered on the Bereavement Committee. She was active with the Right to Life Movement and the Crisis Pregnancy Center and was also a loyal Buffalo Bills fan.
She married her husband, James Eugene “Gene” Burns, in June of 1955. Sadly, Gene passed away on July 2, 2017.
Mary is the loving mother of Elizabeth (late Tony) Woods, Barbara Burns, Patricia Burns-Naughton, Eileen (David) Ludwig, Susan Stoness, and Jill (Michael) Call and is the grandmother of Tony (Melissa), Caroline, Robert, Lauren (Michael), Lexi, Brad, Kitty, Brian, Jacob, Andrea, Sarah, Luke, Madeline, Jamie, Ryan, Patrick, and Samantha; and the great-grandmother of Maura and Molly. She is the sister of Ruth (Daniel) Gritzmacher and the late Lillian Butz, Frank, Donald, James, Edward, and Florian Kolek; step sister of Robert and Frederick Robertson. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Audrey Burns, Sally Burns, and Frances Kolek and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, April 2nd from 4-8 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 3rd at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
