Obituary of Kathleen Niland

Kathleen Niland passed away Friday October 8, 2010, in Hospice of Buffalo. Born September 23, 1940 in Lockport, she was he daughter of the late Eugene and Florence Moore O'Byrne. She was a Captain in the US Army. Kathleen graduated from Sister's of Charity Nursing School, and worked at Lockport Memorial Hospital for over 40 years retiring in 2003. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, golfing and traveling. Kathleen is predeceased by her husband Michael Niland, who passed away January 15, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter Kerri L. (Aaron) Hirsch and grandchildren Michael, Benjamin, Caroline and Anna. Kathleen was the sister of Phyllis (Harry) Green, Michael (Rose Ann) O'Byrne, Eugene (Kathleen) O'Byrne and Eileen (Alan) Oestriech and the late James O'Byrne, Joanne Chapman, Rosemary Ryan, John O'Byrne and David O'Byrne; sister-in-law of Harry Chapman, Barb O'Byrne, Bill Ryan and Anne O'Byrne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday 5 to 8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Roswell Park, Hospice of Buffalo or to Bundles for Babies c/o Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, would be appreciated by the family.
