Obituary of Robert Lockie

Robert L. Lockie passed away October 7, 2010 in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Buffalo June 8, 1925, he was the son of Clara B. Bender and Laurence D. Lockie. Survived by Gwendolyn P. Lockie, his beloved wife of 60 years, son Russell (Melissa) Lockie, daughters Donna (Michael) Brash and Karen (Alan) Sutton; grandsons Ryan Lockie, Darryl Lockie, Joseph Brash, Anthony Brash, Warren (Amy) Gardner, Phillip Sutton and great grandsons Donald Booth and Kyle A. Gardner. He leaves one brother Clytle B. Lockie of Sarasota, Florida and one sister Mary (John) Newhard of Lockport.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and Choir. Also, was active in Scouting serving as Scout leader of Troop 2. He was a Sea Scout leader of the Lockport Lion's Club Sea Scouts; a member of Highland Ely Parker Lodge #835 F&AM, John Hodge Lodge of Perfection, Lockport Chapter #73 Order of Eastern Star, Lock City Glee Club, Past Commander of the Lockport Power Squadron where he served as Chairman of Cooperative Charting and the Legislative Committee of District 6, United States Power Squadrons. Robert was a graduate of, Lockport High School and School of Engineering from the University of Buffalo. He was a member of the Niagara Orleans Model Engineers. He retired as Senior Project Engineer from Harrison Radiator Division after 39 years of service in 1987. He enjoyed boating, traveling, model making and spending time with family and friends in their motor home.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Sunday by the Millennium Lodge #1179. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 AM in the Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 would be appreciated by the family.
