Obituary of James Handrich

James Henry Handrich, Age 63 entered into eternal peace on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Eastern Niagara Hospital at Newfane, NY. Born May 9, 1947, he was the son of Rita Meiser and the late Harold Handrich. James Married Norma Mellenthien on March 12, 1966. He was a member of the UAW pistol league, an NRA fire arms instructor and also a member of the WNY Woodworkers Club. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking but his greatest joy and pleasure was his family, especially his grandchildren. James was a graduate of Lockport Senior High school in 1965 and worked for Harrison Radiator, GMC, for 27 years before being stricken by a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Norma, and his children, Michael (Dawn), of Newfane, James &amp;quot;Jay&amp;quot; (Jill) of Lancaster, Daniel of Lockport. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, Owen, Karissa, Molly, Cole, Samantha, Logan and Nicholas; step-brother of Gerald Meiser of NC. A special thanks to two very special people in Jim&amp;#39;s life, his Care givers, Fran Murray of Lockport and Carol Pratt of Newfane. Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, in Prudden and KAndt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
