Obituary of Frances M. Varallo
We mourn the sudden passing of our beloved mother and nana on February 26, 2018, woman who was loved by everyone.
With our dear papa, these two young people and their four year old son, traveled from Italy by way of Argentina in 1955 to start a new life in America. They were so excited and proud to be Americans. Not knowing anyone nor the language, they quickly became a part of the fabric of Lockport’s community. She taught herself how to read and write in English from the newspaper. She worked as a seamstress to help provide for her family, and raised four amazing children who became three doctors and a teacher. She was also “Nana”, known by many, and was the most positive person we have ever known. She found great joy welcoming people to the family’s, Spring Lake Winery. She always found the positive in everyone. She enjoyed life, laughing, loving, cooking, flowers, her garden, fresh air, beauty, and feeling young, but above all, her family was the most important thing in her life. She had her door open to everyone. She was a mentor for many and always willing to give you her advice. She will be cherished forever.
Survived by her Sons, Dr. Nicholas Varallo (Tamre), Dr. Mark A. Varallo (Kelly), Dr. Patrick A. Varallo (Lori) and her beloved daughter, Cristina Finnerty (Michael). She adored her grandchildren, David, Americo (Deanna), Dr. Cristina Varallo (Dr. Jamie Rodriguez), Dominic (Sarah), Francesca Sims (Willie), Alexander, Elisabeth, Olivia, Markie, Emma, and Steven. Her great-grandchildren were also gems in her life, Penelope, Nino, Sofia, Evita, Fiora, Anthony, and Francesco. She was also loved by her nieces and nephews, Florinda, Rosa, Tanino, Sylvia, Chris, Michael, David, Jimmy Grieser and all of their children.
