I am truely sorry to hear of Cynthia's passing. Although we were not very close in the last seveal years I remember visiting her, Mark and the crew at home and Doug and Janet's, and hosting them at Gerald and Antoinette's with my Uncle Bill, an active fun bunch. Along with other Patersons Bridget amd Brian joyful times. And cousin Donald, fondly looking back at so many good people, hopefully remembered as well taken too soon.

When my nephew died, people told me "you're strong, you'll be ok" or you're faith is strong, you'll be ok". All of those things may be true, but what I've learned is that grief is about love, not strength or weakness. The more you love someone, the more you grieve.
Cindy is my cousin and my friend. She left this earth as an amazing person. But, she is a sister, a mom, a grandma. My heart breaks for you Carl and John, her sisters-in-law, her children and grandchildren and Sully.
We have been blessed with a big family, so we go through this more often. We are an extension of the Martino family and I love you all!
As God calls us one by one, our chain will link again. Peace and Blessings!

At an intersection, Aunt Cindy entered my life.
Fate brought us there...
Since Nana’s recent passing and with the looming presence of Aunt Cindy’s diagnosis, I have found my mind wandering back to that time- vivid memories that I can smell, hear, taste and see.
Unfinished floors of Prentice Street...raucous rooms...food- and drink-filled picnic tables...denim...flip-flops...kids running...cards shuffling...loud shouting...butt-filled ashtrays feeding the smoke haze......deep laughter...fragrant rose garden...dime candy-filled brown paper bags...
Recent memories are marked by Aunt Cindy’s persistence and fight.
Each day is filled with memories to cherish...ironically, the most difficult are also precious.

Grief, I’ve learned,is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.

As you passed from this life to the next, you are no longer sick or old and don’t carry the burdens of this mortal life. You are welcomed by the Savior into eternal life whole and strong to live forever in heaven. What a promise, what joy unspeakable.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall fear no evil. Thy rod and thy staff comfort me. May God grant onto you eternal life and perpetual light shine upon you.

I remember the day Cindy was born, I also remember taking care of her and her brothers when they were growing up.I was deeply saddened when I learned of her illness a while ago. Cindy was a fun loving person who loved life and her family very much. She put up a valiant and courageous battle against her illness. Cindy knew her Uncle Les and I loved her. May her family find some consolation in the fact that her battle is over and she is at peace with the Lord and the rest of the Angels in heaven. Rest in Peace our dear Niece..We will never forget you. Aunt Jo and Uncle Les.
