My heartfelt condolences go to Nickie and her family on the loss of her loving brother Sam.
What a joy it was to have known Fr. Sam. I first met Fr. Sam in April 1969 in Rome at the Ordination of my Dad, a late vocation (69), Rev. John P. Smith, Canisius College 1918, and former Chaplain at St. Elizabeth's Home in Lancaster. Fr. Sam befriended my Dad through their many years, and were like a father-son relationship. It was his smile, friendliness, graciousness, sense of humor and yes his excellent cooking, that made one immediately feel at ease and enjoy his company and wisdom, whenever in his presence. How blessed my family and, especially my Dad, were to have known such a priestly servant, who served his faithful, community and church in God's love for 69 years, Rest in peace Fr. Sam, for your reward will be great.

Father Faiola was one of our parish priests at Nativity on the West Side of Buffalo when I was a teenager. He was wonderful...kind, gentle and easy to talk to. He was an inspiration whom I have never forgotten. I was blessed to know him. My condolences to his family. Martha Randazzo

Fr. Faiola was one of my teachers at the Diocesan Prep Seminary and was one of the best. God surely has taken him to heaven where he will continue to watch over all of us.
My sincerest sympathy to family members who will have to wait until they are reunited with him in the future.

I'm sorry I can't be there for the wake. The morning Mass gang at St. John's was blessed to have him some years, and the clergy trekkers to the Adirondacks loved his culinary skills.
He will rest in peace, surely. Doc

As a seminarian I spent a summer with Father Sam in Middleport in 1985. I learned to make Osso Buco, Carbonara, and first tasted balsamic vinegar while with him. In retrospect, one of the happiest times of my formation as a priest. A funeral at my parish prohibits my attendance on Saturday, but deepest condolences to his sister, Nickie, and all of his family in the faith.
