John P. "Jack" Geier passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Briody's Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport May 14, 1935 he was the son of Walter F. and Marie Burke Geier. John was a 1952 graduated from DeSales High School, University of Buffalo with a degree in Electrical engineering and UCLA School of Business Administration. Jack worked in the engineering field in the Buffalo area from 1958 to 1962 after that he relocated to the Los Angeles area where he worked as an Electrical Engineer until 1970. Upon returning to Lockport he was employed at Guterl Special Steel until its closing in 1983. Afterwards John worked as a Water Operator at the Lockport Water Department. Jack was a member of All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and the Niagara County Genealogical Society.
John is survived by his sister Janet Geier Schiffert; sister-in-law Linda Geier and brother-in-law William Tilton; uncle of Marc Tilton, Daniel Tilton, Jeffrey Tilton, Mary Ellen (Gregory) Tilton Brinker, John (Lynn) Tilton, Peter (Toni) Tilton, Paula (Edward) Schiffert Sattelberg, Theresa (Richard) Schiffert Siegmund, Dr. Martin Schiffert, Annamarie (late Paul) Schiffert Cappola, Monica (Patrick) Schiffert Argento, Sonia (James) Schiffert Avallone, Kathleen (Arthur) Geier Jackson, Alan (Sharon) Geier, Michael (Kathleen) Geier; also the grand uncle and great grand uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; predeceased by his sister Audrey Geier Tilton, brother James Geier and brother-in-law Gordon Schiffert.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Please visit www.pruddenandkandt.com to leave an online condolence to the family.
