Obituary of Robert A. Lipp, CPA

Robert A. 'Bob' Lipp, CPA passed away February 6, 2018 under the care of hospice in Niagara Hospice House. Born December 24, 1927 in Cheektowaga he was the son of Richard and Babette (Wertz) Lipp. Bob served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Buffalo in 1950 and spent much of his professional career with Lumsden & McCormick, where he was a CPA and partner, from 1971 till his retirement in 1992. After retirement, Bob continued his professional work by supporting the Town of Lockport through work on the IDA and as Budget Director. He also supported the community by using his skills and talents in over 50 years of service to the Lockport Rotary, as a Past President and Paul Harris Fellow, and he gave unwavering support to Trinity Lutheran Church as its treasurer for 35+ years. Bob was active in the UB Alumni association, and his family shares many memories of UB football games, as well as Sabres and Bills games throughout the years. Stories also abound from all sorts of endeavors at Camp Pioneer on Lake Erie. In his younger years, Bob had many sailing and Adirondack adventures with is family. After moving to Lockport, many hours were spent at the Lockport Country Club, trying to master the art of golf, and spending time with his Dalmatian, Charlie. He cared about many people and causes, and was quick to laugh. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley (Steve) Lipp; loving children Beverly (late Louis) Guadagno, Richard (Christine) Lipp, Joanna (Donald Gusmano) Lipp, and Walter (Jane) Lipp; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren who Bob cherished. Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 9th from 2-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday, February 10th at 11 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
