Gary and I were the same age and we grew up together on Kilhoffer St. in Buffalo. We lost touch over 40 years ago when I left the neighborhood.
In the summer of 1960, I was hit by a car, had a broken leg and was in a hip-to-toe-length cast for 10 weeks. One day, while I was laid up, Gary came over to play cards and games with me. Since I was in a wheelchair and couldn’t do much, that little gesture was greatly appreciated. I always remembered Gary as a decent guy.
Such thoughtfulness from a 10-year-old was a hint at the person he was to become. Based on Gary's brief obituary, it sounds like he had a full life surrounded by a loving family.

We have many memories of our dear friend Gary. He was a great friend and great company. He was a super help mate to his dear wife Pat, who is going to miss him every day. I never heard Gary raise his voice to anyone, he was just that kind of guy. He enjoyed our "lil gang" while we discovered new and old restaurants together. We were just deciding were we should venture to on our Christmas get-together dinner when Gary returned from the hospital. We were all in shock to learn of his untimely passing, way too early in life. May he look down on us from his comfy recliner in the sky and know that we are all thinking of him. May God bless him always and give strength to those loved ones left behind. You are and will be extremely missed. Take care "Big Guy"

Great guy, too soon. Loved hanging out and watching football with him. We would trade stories and laughs. We'll miss him dearly.
