Obituary of Raymond Peracciny

Raymond Peracciny passed away September 3, 2010. Born August 26, 1923 in Lockport he was the son of Louis and Adelia (Paglia) Peracciny. Raymond served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 in the Pattons 3rd Armor Division, storming Omaha Beach on D-Day and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Raymond also was awarded the Silver Star Medal, for jumping out of his LVT, to administer medical aid and led to safety two wounded infantrymen while under heavy machine gun and artillery fire. Upon entering the shelter, he was joined by five other wounded and further rendered aid until, they could all be evacuated.
He worked for Harrison Radiator for 44 years where he was a press operator and a union committeeman, retiring in 1982. Raymond was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lockport, the VFW Post #2535 and the American Legion B. Leo Dolan Post #410.
Raymond is survived by his wife 67 years, Marie (Persico) Peracciny of Lockport; father of Mary Ann (Joe) Wolkiewicz, Marcia Lynn Peracciny, Raymond (Caroline Marie) Peracciny, Jr. and his adopted son, James Nichols all of Lockport; grandfather of Tracy (Brian) Ranney, Christine (Ray) Lantinen, Joseph (Tonya) Wolkiewicz, Raymond Peracciny III, Katrina Peracciny and Adelina Peracciny and great grandfather of seven; brother of Rosalie Trepicone of Bakersfield, CA., Louis Peracciny Jr. and John J.(Kay) Peracciny, both of Lockport, and the late Amelia Neskes, Mary Ann Ferris, Anne Benge and Emilio Peracciny, brother in-law of Donald Ferris of Lockport. Raymond is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Wednesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.

Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport.
<h3>Interment</h3>
Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.
