Dear Aunt Chris,
My memories of summers spent 'on the farm' with you and my dear cousins will always be with me. You gave me a different life to look forward to each year as the summer approached. A month of laughter, learning (to drive, and I still cook your French toast for every hot date who stays the night), mini-scandals (the kissing cousin), love (the way you comforted me when I realised what the word 'adopted' meant), laughing over drinks in your garden with you and uncle Earl (another member of the 'landed gentry' of Dysinger Road), and generosity of heart and spirit.
I will miss you.
Dear Cathy, Richard, Susan, Bobby, Jim, Dave, Daniel, and your spouses and progeny,
I hope, as you say goodbye to your mother, that your grief will gradually fade away to be replaced by the many happy memories of your time together. Although not physically present today, I am with you in spirit, thinking about the past and how one of my links to the past, with all of its good and all of its bad, is no longer here. I know that many of you are believers, and I hope that your belief will be a great comfort to you. I also hope that, as in the past, you continue to maintain your sometimes close, sometimes chaotic, but always loving, relationships with each other, and that those relationships give you comfort.
Love,
Kenneth
