Obituary of Karen Stashak

Karen L. Stashak, retired medical secretary and social worker, died suddenly Aug. 27 in Wilson. She was 63. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport.
Mrs. Stashak was born and raised in n Lockport, and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Winona KalIs. She was a 1965 graduate of DeSales Catholic High School and obtained two associates' degrees from Niagara County Community College, one in accounting and one in secretarial science. In addition, she held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Empire State College.
Mrs. Stashak worked for many years at Mount View Health Facility in Lockport, where she worked as a medical secretary, executive secretary and controller before leaving to work for Niagara County as a social worker.
In 1973 she married Anthony Stashak, who survives her. After their 20th wedding anniversary the couple renewed their wedding vows every five years. They divided their time between their summer home in Wilson and a home in Miami, FL where they lived together during winter and early spring.
Mrs. Stashak is remembered by her many friends for her laughter, her outgoing personality and her generosity of spirit. She loved sailing and power boating and was the treasurer of Harborview Yacht Club in Wilson and treasurer of the Biscayne Sea Club of Miami, FL. Karen was a member of both the Tuscarora Yacht Club of Wilson and the LaSalle Yacht Club of Niagara Falls, and a former member of the Island Yacht Club of Wilson. She also loved gardening, renovating homes and her cats.
Mrs. Stashak is also survived by a brother, Jon (Irene) Kalls of Lockport, two nephews,
Brian (Valerie) Kalls and Jason Kalls both of Florida and a niece, Katherine (Ashtyn)
Rance of Lockport.
