Gary J. Berntsen passed away May 6, 2017 in Buffalo General Hospital. Gary was born May 2, 1938 in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of John and Ailia (Andersen) Berntsen. He worked at Harrison Radiator then under the Delphi Corp. for 38 years retiring in 1999. Gary enjoyed traveling, he and his wife Patricia (Conary) Berntsen traveled Norway, Ireland and other countries and especially Mackinac Island, Michigan; he also enjoyed hunting and in his retirement enjoyed doing Taxes for people during tax season.
Besides his wife Patricia he is the father of William, Mitchell and the late Christopher Berntsen; step-father of April (David) Smith, Gerardo "Jerry" IV, Joseph and James (Rachel) Liermo. Gary is also survive by several grandchildren; brother of Maxine Berntsen, Julie (Gary) Leisner and Cathy (James) Myers and also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday May 10, 2017 from 3 to 7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY where funeral services will be held Thursday May 11, 2017 at 11 AM. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Park, Amherst, NY 14228 would be appreciated by the family.
