Dear Susan and Douglas, Beth, Gretchen and Leslie -
My condolences to you and each of your families. So many good memories of Aunt Dorie and Uncle Chucky - at the Creola and Gugino cottages out in the "country", Crystal Beach, Edison Street Baptist Church, Aunt Ollie's house on the corner, Auntie Em's house (I called her Grandma) 66 East Morris, Aunt Geor's flat above Wellie's, visits to the Mixes; rides homes from far away Lockport sleeping in the back of the station wagon along the Millersport Highway, trips your parents accompanied mine to Lehigh to visit me, many others. Charles and Girard were quite the pair - Annie and Doris could tell us some stories I'm sure. I'm not sure if I was at the Bills game when your Dad gave his famous "Chicken proof" exhortation. Your Mom definitely was.
Much love and sadness for your loss,
Douglas

Gretchen...(and family)I have the fondest of memories of your mom as my fourth grade teacher! She was the best! I also remember your sister coming in (maybe Beth???) to play her guitar for us and she sang "Leaving On A Jet Plane" by John Denver. Too funny what we remember...but your Mom was unforgettable. Later in Junior High and High School, as we became friends, and I came to your house, her hospitality and gentle ways were always so welcoming. Truly a wonderful person who touched countless lives and hearts. I know you and your sisters will miss her so much.
With warmest memories and heartfelt sympathy...Joanne (Weaver) Andrews

Mrs Schumacher was my fifth grade school teacher. I had her for a teacher from 1975 to 1976. I recall when she came to the bank where I worked her saying to her teller now I have to go down and see one of my students. We laughed that day about how long ago it had been. One of my memories of her is after school let out for the season a couple of us students helped her move to one of the mobils, an outside of the main building classroom. When cleaning out the cupboards we found a metal box with the presidents on. I liked the box and asked if I could have it, I remember her saying will you use it, I said yes and she said then you may have it. I still use that box to this day and always think of her when I take it out of the desk drawer. She has left a lasting memory on all her children and will be sadly missed. My sincere sympathy to her real family. This for me is the second time I had to give her up but she still remains with me in my thoughts.

I am so sorry for your loss. I played bridge with Doris for several years. She so enjoyed the game and I enjoyed playing with her and hearing her many stories. She will be greatly missed.

The loss of Mrs. Doris C. Schumacher a cherished loved one is the most devastating experiences a family can face. At times, the loss may seem unbearable. Please know that there are people who care and more importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that "God is near to those that are broken at heart. He is the God of all comfort. My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time of grief.
