Shirley Anne Harper, 87 of Lockport, died peacefully Sunday April 2, 2017 at the home of her son. Shirley was under the care of Niagara Hospice and was surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born November 21, 1929 in Lockport, NY, the daughter of the late Harold E and Florence (Griztmacher) Mosher.
She attended Lockport High School and on September 10th of 1949 married Joseph Harper Sr. Shirley worked for Harrison Radiator GM plant in Lockport. In April of 1986 she retired after 30 years. She and her husband resided in The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida, after their retirement; returning to Lockport after 10 years to be close to their children, grandchildren and friends. They did enjoy their time in Florida. She became a member of the Lioness Club where she was an active volunteer. She also went to school to become an official clown known as Polka-Dottie. She enjoyed performing at parties, parades and especially loved entertaining her favorite, handicapped children.
She is survived by her sons' Joseph (Annette) Harper of Lockport and Jeffrey (Kelly) Harper of Bowling Green, KY., her son in law James (late Cynthia)of Middleport, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren she loved dearly, her sister Marilyn Lieb, sister in law Veldren Mosher both of Lockport and many nieces and nephews. Also her dear friends Jane Lepkowski and Barb and Tom Vendetti
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph in 2010, her daughter Cynthia Harper (James) White 2014 and siblings Norma Mosher (Bub) Smith, Harold (Barbara) Mosher and Donald Mosher.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 6th from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Friday, April 7th at 11 AM.
