Ron had an unwavering belief in my ability and talent. He spent hours of his own time and efforts into driving me to be the best athlete I could be. I am eternally grateful and Ron will always hold a special place in my heart.

I absolutely loved being in Mr. Main's class. He is literally my favorite teacher I ever had. I feel as though Mr. Main is a wonderful mold to strive to be as a teacher. He knew how to engage his students in his lessons. Also, I was so happy to be able to see him and speak with him at some of the track meets at which I would work. I will definitely miss seeing and speaking with him.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Ron Main. By simply continuing to be the great coach that he had always been, he became a pioneer in women’s running. I was part of the first ever LSHS Girls’ Cross Country Team in the 1970s, along with Molly Branch, Christa Stoll, Debbie Quagliana, Kelly Ryan, and Terese D’Auria. Coach Main was a strong advocate of girls’ participation in sports, during a time of historic and controversial change (i.e. the 1967 tackle of Kathrine Switzer during the Boston Marathon, the 1972 ratification of Title IX, and the first ever Women’s Olympic Marathon in 1984, among many other milestones). On behalf of the first ever LSHS Girls’ Cross Country Team, and on behalf of all girls involved in sports, thank you for all you have done for us. We remember you with immense gratitude.

What a loss this is, Coach Main was an inspiration to all! A great Coach, a great man, one that will be missed deeply. He coached me 1988-1991 track and cross country, a dedicated man that never let his runners down! Deeply saddened, words cannot express how thankful I am to have known Coach Main!

Ron, you were the best social studies teacher I had. You greatly sparked my interest in AMerican history. I wish I was on your track team in high school. It's been a long time but you stand out as one the best teachers I had in high school!
