I am so sorry for your loss. I was one of Mr. Knights pupils at North Park Junior High School in 1977. I was having difficulty in reading comprehension and was assigned to one of his classes. He was very patient and took the time for one on one instruction with me. I still think of the time I spent in his classes and help he provided and I still use the technics he taught me to this day. I am grateful to of had him as a teacher.

My deepest sympathy to Renee and family members in the passing of your deeply loved family member. I met Dave while teaching in the Lockport School District many years ago. We got to know each other while involved in teacher union activities for which Dave was deeply involved in time and dedication.
Dave and I always veered our conversations to sports and especially to those players of the past in local and major league sports. He was like an encyclopedia when remembering teams and names. Those were conversations he and I rejoiced in having and I will always remember the sparkle in his eyes while reciting his memories with me.
We both resumed our friendship while enrolled in ENH cardiac rehab program in later years. Sadly, because of his severe health problems, he left the program to fight with Renee, a long, brave, and painful battle with cancer. He now is at peace and free of pain with his God. Dave will dearly be missed by those who knew him.

Dave Knight,
My fomer neighbor, teacher, basketball coach , my fathers great friend and of course good friend to me. I talked with Dave several times last year over the phone about gathering information about my Dad's days in high school. Dave was instrumental in getting my dad in the LSHS athletic hall of fame . Dave had a passion for all things good and will be dearly miss in his community that he very much loved. He touched many hearts including mine...
RIP David Knight you were a class act !

I am truly sorry I could not make the trip.
You guys were a second family to me and Mr. Knight was another father to me.
I am grateful for having been blessed to have known him.
His waking up early to make sure Chris and I made it to basketball practice, even though we we only managers at the time.
His patience as we played basketball in the house or garage or outside, as we grew...to allow us to play, yet make sure that we didn't break anything or scratch his car (although i bet he wouldn't have minded us scratching the old cavalier...no power steering??? Mrs. Knight, you were tough as nails to drive that!). For his patience when our three-point shots from the street would rattle off the backboard or roof. I am sure the whole house shook!
For the future...his lessons will live on in how Chris, how we, raise our sons. His kindness. His gentleness. His firm rule.
I am happy to have known him and glad that Chris and I could give him back joy...as parents now...and with a certain pool incident (you know of which i speak!).
I am happy he got to see the men we have become and the families we know take our turn in raising. I am glad he met my family. I am glad they met him.
He will be remembered with great admiration.
All our love from this side of the world,
Todd, Hyeseong, and Eli

To the Knight Famiy,
Please accept my deepest condolences. Mr. Knight was my reading teacher at North Park Junior High and I owe a lot of my past and current successes to his ability to help me become a stronger reader. My main struggle was with comprehension. His caring approach to address the individual needs of students was a strength of his. I recognize this more now as I grew up to become an educator myself. He is one of the reasons I became a teacher and I am now finishing my PhD.
May you all find comfort in your collective memories and may you keep his spirit alive by the stories you share and tell of his life well lived.
Sincerely,
Lynnette Haley O'Stewart
