Obituary of Phyllis Noonan

Phyllis Noonan of Lockport, NY, wife of the late James Noonan, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Lockport, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 11, 1929, daughter of the late Vasil and Anna (Mika) Scrip. Phyllis a devoted mother and wife worked for many years along side her husband as co-owners of the McKnight-Hogan & Noonan real estate brokerage in Lockport, NY. Mother of Shelley (Thomas) MacDonald of Clyde, NY, Kathyanne (Beshara) of Syracuse, NY, Patrick (Jacqueline) of Paris, France, Timothy (Carol) of Raleigh, NC, Phyllis Lapp of Lockport, NY, Alison (Daniel) Hayes of Canandaigua, NY. Sister of the late Pasquale Spina Jr. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews. Phyllis always put her family first. For many years she canned and froze food from the 20 acre family farm. She was known for her delicious scratch cooking, especially pizza, breads, her special butter, and hundreds of dozens of holiday gift cookies. Phyllis was very proud of her second generation carpathian Slovakian heritage and was also fluent in the Ruysn language often slipping a few Ruysn words/expressions into family conversations. But her essence was captured by niece Cynthia Dawdy Murray who wrote: She nourished you with smiles, and laughter, structure and contentment. She fed you compassion and concern with love brimming over so that at the end of every day you went to bed not only with a full belly but a full heart. And she did this with gratitude, reverence, and wonder. She brought you up with organic joy, humor and happiness and it took root and shaped you. She gave you life in abundance and in doing so found it in herself. Friends may call at the PRUDDEN-KANDT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 242 Genesee St, Lockport, NY Friday January 20 from 4-7 PM. A Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 21 at 10:00 AM in FIRST PRESBYTARIAN CHURCH, 21 Church St, Lockport, NY. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
