John J. Babis passed away November 7, 2016. Born in Lockport August 8, 1955 he was the son of John and Betty (Ark) Babis. He served in the US Navy from 1973 to 1977. John worked for the City of Lockport for 30 years retiring in October of 2010. He was a member of the B. Leo Dolan Post 410 American Legion where he served as post commander, was past commander of Niagara County American Legion, a member of the Lockport Exchange Club, the Navy/Marine Club and Captain of the Road Runner Color Guard. John enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, golfing in both the Malloy Top Soil Golf League and the Reid's Gold League and he was affectionately known as "Poppa Taxi". John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy (Ball) Babis; father of Rene (James) Mount and Phillip (Holly) Babis; grandfather of Matthew (Katelyn Knoll) Babis, Ricardo Maye, Kayla Babis, Landen Babis, Ashley Babis; brother of Patricia (Bob) McGuire; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday 4-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Saturday Morning at 9:30 AM. Memorials to the Long Term Care Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Briody HCF, 909 Lincoln Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Eugene F.
