James E. Shanahan went in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus November 4, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Oil City, PA December 2, 1931 he was the son of Michael and Helen (Henderson) Shanahan. James served in the US Air Force and worked for Conrail where he was a Counselor. He was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Friends of AA. James is survived by his wife Cecilia (Ashby) Shanahan; father of James (Lorraine) Shanahan, Jr. and late Kevin Shanahan; father-in-law of Valerie Shanahan; grandfather of Ryan Shanahan, Andrew Shanahan, Janice Cheney, Christopher Grimm, Mark Grimm, Amanda (Mike) Wahlers, Sharon Shanahan, Shawn Shanahan, Cheryl (James) Coyle, and Teri Yuen; several great grandchildren; brother of Raymond (Linda) Shanahan, Harry "Jesse" Shanahan, and late Richard Shanahan and Mary McCarthy; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 4-8 PM on Thursday, Nov. 10th in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM on Friday, Nov. 11th in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
