Joanne Mary Sheehan Strassel Mullane passed peacefully surrounded by her children in Naples Florida on November 1, 2016. She was 82 years old. Joanne "Jody" was born in Lockport on May 20, 1934 the eldest child of the late Francis "Sam" and Florence Sheehan. She was the widow of James F. Mullane. She attended Lockport High School and Lake Erie College and in addition to raising six children, she had a long career as a registered nurse, most recently working at Lockport Hospital. Joanne was an avid golfer and member of the Lockport Town and Country Club and a parishioner at St. John the Baptist in Lockport. Joanne was an excellent cook who loved being surrounded by her family and keeping a beautiful house and garden. She was a proud Western New Yorker who always called Lockport home, even the many years she lived in Florida. Joanne is survived by sisters Karen Palumbo of Williamsville, NY, Kate Sheehan and brother Gary Sheehan, both of Lockport. Her children Susan (Joe) Gilman, Curtis Strassel, Michael (Leslie) Strassel, Molly Strassel, Stephen Strassel and Mary Beth Strassel and 10 grandchildren all live in Florida. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday 11/10/16 at Prudden and Kandt. Funeral mass at St Johns Friday 11/11/16, 10:00 AM.
