William H. McIntyre peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Care Center where he was receiving hospice care. Born February 24, 1937, he was the first child of the late Oscar N. and Dorothy L. (Clugston) McIntyre. Bill graduated from Lockport High School in 1955 and the served four years in the US Navy. A sonar man, his naval career took him to the Arctic aboard the icebreaker USS Edisto and he also served aboard the USS Weatherford and USS Milledgeville in support of the Fleet Sonar School at Key West, Florida. After returning from the service, Bill went to work at the family business, Mac's Market. He was involved in the retail grocery and meat market businesses for the remainder of his working years. In 1962 he became the owner of Mac's Market located on Union Street in Lockport, which he operated for 17 years. He then worked for Federal Meat Markets in North Tonawanda for several years, returning to work in Lockport at the Butcher Shop on Lincoln Avenue where his ready smile, sense of humor and outgoing nature made him a favorite with his many customers. A sports fan, he cheered for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Buffalo Bills and enjoyed watching golf. He eagerly followed current events and politics at all levels and his opinions and theories on life and all that it has to offer were freely shared, and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Bill is survived by his wife Ella (Cummings) of Lockport, and siblings Barbara Sheehan of Olcott, Robert of Long Beach, CA, James (Jean) of Melbourne Beach, FL, John (Beverly) of North Tonawanda and Douglas of Lockport. He is also survived by his children Cheryl (Kenneth) Smith of Pendleton, Rebecca (James) Boseck of Canandaigua, Keith (Lisa) of Macedon, Stephen (Molly) of Akron and step-children Lynda Cassick of Medina and Malcolm Robertson of Lockport. He also has several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation.
