Carl Stieffenhofer passed away May 30, 2016 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 8, 1929 he was the son of Cletus and Freda (Herger) Stieffenhofer. Carl worked for Domtar Paper Mill in Lockport where he was a superintendent retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Knights of Columbus 319, 4th Degree 754, was active in Habitat for Humanity, served on the Newfane School Board, and served on the board and volunteered for the Sr. Loretta Soup Kitchen. Carl enjoyed playing Santa around Christmas time, football, sports in general, cars, woodworking building doll houses for his granddaughters. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Stieffenhofer on April 3, 1993. Carl is survived by his children, Carl Stieffenhofer of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Stieffenhofer of Glenolden, PA, Donna Winans of Lockport, Joan (Michael) Morgenroth of Parkton, MD, Mary (Helmut) Krueger of Hershey, PA, Karen (Jason) Smith of Belair, MD, Glenn (Steven Katzin) Stieffenhofer of Media, PA, and Grace (Rene) Goupil of Niagara Falls, Ont., Canada; grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 5; brother of Jean Crooch, Doris Stoerrle and late Marie Beierschmitt, Warren Stieffenhofer, Russel Stieffenhofer, and Eric Stieffenhofer; also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, June 3rd from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 4th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
