Joan Loraine Amsdill Zimmerman, 74 of Lockport, NY, Joanie was sub shop manager for 45 years in Lockport. She passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 11, 2016 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Born April 30, 1941 in Lewiston, NY, the daughter of George Sr. and Loraine Amsdill, Joan was married for 56 years to the late Robert C. Zimmerman; mother of Mark (Brenda) Zimmerman and Julie Ann (Floyd Staats) Zimmerman; four grandchildren, Marky and Mitchy Zimmerman, Amanda Farina (Kevin) Mitchell and the late Slayter Zimmerman-Staats, Great Grandma of Korban Mitchell; sister of George Amsdill, Jr. and many loved nieces, nephews and great niece and nephew Ali Amsdill and Christopher Amsdill.
Joanie loved to attend and volunteer at the Challenger Sports League functions and knitted blankets with "Helping Hands", a group of volunteers from The Village Mobile Home Park. Joanie lovingly baked and donated coffee cakes and pies to many friends and non-profit organizations for fund raisers.
Relatives and Friends may call Thursday April 14th 4-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 15th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Challenger Sports League, 3511 Landers Lane, Gasport, NY 14067 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
