Obituary of LeRoy Carlton Chase

L. Carlton Chase passed away Sunday April 10, 2016, in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport, on June 24, 1923, he was the son of the late, LeRoy A. and Ruth Chase. Carlton served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943-1945, as a Rear Turret Gunner and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, for valor in combat. Carlton was the Physical Director at the Lockport YMCA, where he was affectionately known as "Nemo", because of his love for swimming, after he retired from th 'Y', Carlton was a Phy. Ed. Teacher at Roy-Hart School District. He was a life member of the Lockport YMCA and the VFW, and enjoyed golf, bowling and especially swimming. Carlton is predeceased by his wife, Virginia (nee Johnson) Chase, who passed away March 17, 2015, and his brother, the late Meryle Chase.
Father of Carlton Lee (Patricia) Chase, Larry Allen Chase and the late Nancy Ann Chase; grandfather of Roberta (Michael) Muscarella, Matthew Chase, Melisa Niver, David Chase, and Christopher Chase; great grandfather of Joseph, Julia, and Jack Muscarella;; also survived by several nieces and great nieces.
Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 8 PM, at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lockport YMCA, 19 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
