Alice A. Spedding, age 85, passed into The Lord's Keeping, June 27, 2010 after a short illness. Alice was the daughter of the late Theadore Ormond and Mary (Miller) Ormond. She is survived by her stepmother Margaret Ormond of Georgia, her son Charles III, two grandsons Jamie and Shane Spedding, and one brother Theadore Ormond of California. Her husband, Charles E. Spedding, Jr. predeceased her in 1991. Alice will be especially missed by her sister-in-law Diane Heiman, nieces and nephews Debbie (Tony) Bielak, Edward, Bob (Tina), Jeffrey (Julie) Sr Heiman and Julie (Terry) Hurtgam. Also survived by her great nieces and nephews Benjamin Heiman, Adam Heiman, Mark, Matt Haenle, Jillian Harden, Aaron Heiman, Caitlin Ryder, Patrick Ferguson, Tiffany, Kelsey, Jeffrey Jr Heiman; great-great nieces and nephews Cameron, Hunter, Rielly and Parker. Alice is also survived by her sister-in-law Janice Spedding and brother-in-law James L. Spedding of Olean and their families.

Alice enjoyed walking for years with our children, giving the history of Old Main Street and the locks, walking to the Palace Theater for all the Disney movies and snuggling at home to watch scary movies with the children and making a special treat of hot chocolate. She also enjoyed baking cookies for our local fireman who referred to her as "The Cookie Lady". Alice worked in the 1950's at The Maple Leaf Restaurant where she met her husband after she served in the military.

She will be missed by many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 10th at 10 AM with Fr. Joseph Vatter officiating in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Inurnment will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Alabama where she will be put to rest with her beloved husband at the convenience of the family.
