Obituary of Betty Jane Fitzgerald

Betty J. Fitzgerald, Lockport, wife of the late John J. Fitzgerald entered into rest February 16, 2016. She was born in Hartland on August 18, 1923 to Reuben and Nellie Randolph. Betty was predeceased by her five siblings, Emma J. Reynolds, Herbert S. Randolph, Milton S. Randolph, Robert E. Randolph, and Ruth M. Tracy. She graduated from Barker Central School in June 1940, and worked at Niagara Textile and Norton Laboratories before quitting to be a stay at home mother. After the death of her husband, John J. Fitzgerald Betty involved herself in volunteer work. She volunteered for BINGO at the Dale Association and spent 32 years volunteering with Meals-On-Wheels. She was a member of the Auxiliary Eagles #825 and VFW Aux. of Post 2535 both she was past president of. Betty loved to read, crochet, crocheting laprobes for the VA Hospital in Buffalo and Auxiliary Eagles #825 which were then donated to local nursing homes. She enjoyed going to concerts and playing at the casino with her dear friend Josie Schneider. Betty is survived by her dearly beloved children James N. (Virginia O'Neal) Brewer and Sandra (David Harrington) Brewer; beloved step-children J. Michael (late Ellen) Fitzgerald, Joanne Roberts, Daniel (Dorothy) Fitzgerald, and Maureen (Steve) Merchant; grandmother of eleven and great grandmother of twenty; friend Josie Schneider and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends may call Friday, Feb. 26th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where services will be held Saturday, Feb. 27th at 11 AM. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery. Donations to the Heart Association or the Eagles or the VFW would be appreciated. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
