Obituary of John R. Taylor

John R. Taylor passed away January 26, 2016 in Buffalo General Medical Center. Born in Lockport on September 29, 1934 he was the son of F. Howard and Loraine P. (Maloney) Taylor. John was a graduate of DeSales Catholic High School and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1957 earning the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for 41 years at NYSEG retiring in 1994. John was an active member of All Saints Parish where he was an usher and money counter, a member of the Lockport Ancient Order of Hibernians of which he was past treasurer and Hibernian of the Year recipient, and also a member of the Elks. John enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his wife Janet (Haley) Taylor of Lockport; father of Anne (James) Rotella, Rosemary (Thomas) Lutz, Joseph (Mary Beth) Taylor all of Lockport and Christina (Doug McKinney) Taylor of Ohio; grandfather of Erin Rotella, Daniel Rotella, Michael Rotella, Meghan Lutz, Molly (Paul) Mayers, Patrick Lutz, Andrew Taylor, Katherine (Corey) Webster, Amy Taylor, Chelsea Taylor, and Emily Taylor; brother of Margaret (Isaac) Vanderlinde and late Howard Taylor, William Taylor, Beatrice Hare, Albert Taylor, Loraine Morse; survived by his loyal companion, Junior his dog and also several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Jan. 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 29th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales, Attn: Fr. Joseph Dumphrey, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, 241 Lafayette Ave., Buffalo, New York 14213 would be appreciated by the family.
