Norman William Freeman passed away Sunday May 30, 2010. Born in Buffalo, on July 11, 1935, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Lieder Freeman. Norman served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, Army Reserve from 1956-1962 and the US Navy Reserve from 1962 to 1987. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in July of 1997 after 44 years. Norman was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Windom Volunteer Fire Co., which he was a past Chief, N.E.R.A., the American Legion, Elks, Lions Club, V.F.W., Eagles and to the Lockport Town and Country Club. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees Fan.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn (nee Wood) Freeman of 3 years and was the husband of the late Barbra Freeman; father of Susan (Robert) Westfield of Alden, NY, Michael (Lisa) Freeman of Derby, NY, Richard (Carolyn) Freeman of Newburgh, NY and William (Nancy) Freeman of Tampa, Fl.; brother of Melvin (Mary Ann) Freeman of West Seneca and the late Robert (Bernice) Freeman of Pa.; step-father of Tammy (Michael) Steen and Jeffrey (Paula) Miller both of Lockport and Marilyn (Scott) Dinse of Wilson. Grandfather of Matthew, Adam, Jared, Tyler, Aaron, Conner, Katie, Ryan, Dylan and McKenzie; step grandfather of Madeline, Emily, Brenna, Erin, Alexander and Isabel. Norman is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
