Obituary of Mary Loftus

Mary Alice Loftus passed away on May 25, 2010 in the Briody Health Care Facility. Born on July 31, 1928 in Lockport, she was the daughter of Leslie and Edna (Black) Bush. Alice was a graduate of Lockport High School and worked as a Service Representative for New York, Chesapeake, and Mountain States telephone companies for many years before becoming a mother. An avid collector of antiques and thoughtful friend to many, Alice was a life long member of St. Mary's Church, a former member of the Kenan Herb and Quilter's Clubs, St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society and Home Bureau. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Alice is survived by her devoted husband, H. Joseph Loftus of Lockport, son Michael J. (Julie Glasgow) Loftus of Portland, OR, daughter Mary E. (Kenneth Polchlopek) Loftus of Lancaster, NY, step-grandchildren Stephany and Christian (Donna) Voss. She was predeceased by daughter Molly A. in 1976. Alice is also survived by many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, June 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where prayers will be said at 9:30 am on Wednesday, June 2nd followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton Street, Lockport at 10 am. Interment will be private in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lockport Public Library, the Kenan Center or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
