Obituary of Gertrude Chunco

Gertrude L. Chunco passed away May 26, 2010 at home in Santa Rosa, CA under the care of her children. Born February 24, 1918 in Medina, NY she was the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Karloski) Washak. Gertrude worked at the Niagara County Infirmary for 17 years where she was the Food Service Supervisor retiring in 1973. When she moved to California she worked for 10 years at the Marina Mercy Hospital in Marina Del Rey, CA and volunteered with the Los Angeles County Library, the Sonoma County Library and also with Meals-On-Wheels. She was predeceased by her husband John Chunco in 1952.
Gertrude is survived by her children Mary Ann (Bruce Wale) Chunco of Lockport, Jack Chunco of Camillus, NY, Susan Chunco of Santa Rosa, CA, Judith Chunco, Robert Chunco both of Sacramento, CA and Andrew (Janet) Chunco of Newfane; grandmother of John (Barb) Chunco, Ron Chunco, Quenby (Tom) Bucklaew, Jessie (Jack) McGowan, Michael Long, Margot Cox, Kyle (Kyoko) Chunco, Robb (Kelly) Chunco and Molly (Paul) Vercillo; great grandmother of eight and great-great grandmother of one; sister of Lorraine Bukiewicz of Medina, dear friend of Shirley Long of Lockport and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Lockport.
