Lillian was born in Mansfield, PA on January 12, 1922 and graduated from Mansfield State College with a degree in music education. She taught in Blossburg, PA for a year after her marriage, then opened a music store in Mansfield with Alden. The young family moved to Lockport, NY in 1954 where she taught instrumental and choral music in the elementary schools until her retirement. She was particularly known for her musical stage productions at John Pound school and composed their alma mater for which she was publicly honored at the school's closing. She was active in many organizations including Alpha Delta Kappa teachers' sorority, Lockport Women's Club and directed the Lockport Senior Citizens' Chorus. She attended the First Baptist and Emmanuel Methodist Churches. In retirement she traveled to Winterset Park, FL each winter where she continued her beloved music with their community chorus. In 2010, she moved to Fleming Point Residential Community where, each year, she was asked to conduct a number for the Kodak Concert Band during their visit. In 2014, she moved to the Finger Lakes Center for Living in Auburn, NY where she guest-conducted the Auburn Civic Band during their visits.
