Carter M. "Mickey" Hawkes, Sr. passed away Friday July 31, 2015, in Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Utica, NY, on November 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles W.F. and Doris Taylor Hawkes. Mickey worked for his father at the Niagara Hotel as a bartender and a part time manager and for the City of Lockport in the Streets Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator, he retired from both jobs in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, four-wheeled driving, spending time in Wellsville, Lockport and Gainesville, Fl. Mickey also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janis L. (nee Harvey) Hawkes; father of Carter M. (Lisa) Hawkes, Jr., Colleen M. (Dean) Morris, Candace L. (Jeffrey) Kessel and Curtis M. Hawkes; grandfather of fourteen and great grandfather of one. Mickey is also survived by his siblings, Steven (Michelle) Hawkes, Charles (Mary Ann) Hawkes and Cynthia (Joseph) Gabrys; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday August 3, 2015, 3-7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
