Obituary of Barbara Ann Jones

Barbara Ann Jones of Lockport, NY peacefully made her journey to be with the Lord on June 24, 2015, at Hospice House, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of the late Joseph and Felicia Kalendowicz. Educated in NJ schools. Married to Harry (Hank) Jones on June 23, 1956, at St. Anthony's Church Jersey City, NJ. Made their home in Lockport in 1964 where she assisted her husband in their family business, which was Hank Jones Upholstery. She became an RN after graduating from N.C.C.C. in 1978, from which time she was an OB-GYN Nurse at Lockport Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was also a staff nurse at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo NY and Mt View Health Facility in Lockport, for a time. Barbara returned to nursing in 2003 as Assistant Director of Nursing at St Clair Manor, Lockport, until their closing. Before her illness she was an avid crafts artisan traveling the craft circuit with her husband and daughter along the East coast doing major shows. Past member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, Lockport; Barbara was a C.C.D. teacher at St. Anthony's Church Lockport, for several years; and was very active in scouting when her children were younger. She predeceased her husband Harry (Hank) in March of 2009 to whom she was married almost 53 years; her son Jeffrey in Dec. 2008; her brother Richard Kalendowicz Oct 2010; Great granddaughter Kyla Richardson. Sisters in law, Gail Kalendowicz & Dorothy Kutrybala. So many memories left to be cherished and traditions passed down. Dearest mother to Judith Ann Morrison of Lockport, NY. Cherished Grandmother of Patricia Kuberski; Brianna Ashley Morrison; and Adam Jones. Great grandmother of Hayley Richardson; Megan Jones; daughter in law, Susan. Dear sister Elaine Domalewski of Brick, NJ and Brother's in law Felix Kutrybala; Richard Jones of Lockport. Marion and Louis Smehill Desoto, Rahway, NJ. Dear aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara wished to acknowledge her life-long friend Madeleine Chmiel of Bayonne, NJ, and many other dear friends, among them her remaining lifelong friends of the Felician Sisters of Lodi, NJ and her beloved pet Alex. Friends may call Monday, June 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee St. Lockport, NY where prayers will be offered Tuesday June 30th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at All Saints Parish 76 Church St. Lockport, NY. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
