Obituary of Anna Mary Archie

Anna Mary Archie passed away peacefully at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility on May 4, 2015. She was 90 years old. Anna Mary was born in Lockport on Aug. 25, 1924 to Howard and Anna (Mahar) Archie. She attended Lockport schools and graduated as a secretary from Miss Williams Business School. Her secretarial skills took her to Washington D.C. during W .W. II at the behest of her cousin, Rep. Bill Miller, a congressman from Lockport, where she served at the Defense Dept. Later on she worked for the Navy Dept. and several years for the National Education Dept. Returning to Lockport to care for her elderly parents, she served as a secretary for local non-profits including The Green Thumb Program, County Office for Aging and the Historical Center. Anna Mary served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood-Mobile for over 20 yrs. She also was a 28 gal. Donor. Other volunteer positions were at the V.A. Hospital, the Mental Health Assoc. and St. John's Church. She also did typing for the Ladies of Charity Group. A lifelong member of St. John's Church, she belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary, and was a Third Order Franciscan. Friends may call at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 2-4 PM. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM, Altar and Rosary Society members are invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist RC Church at 11 AM, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, Rev. Joseph Gullo, a longtime friend, will be the celebrant of the funeral mass. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials to the church would be appreciated by the family.
