Obituary of Robert Laese

Robert John Laese passed away June 11, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born November 20, 1929 in Lockport he was the son of the late Leonard J. and Hazel K. (Henning) Laese. Robert graduated from Lockport High School and went to earn his Associates Degree from Erie County Community College. He served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War with the M Division on the USS Wisconsin of which Robert was still active with the USS Wisconsin Alumni. He earned several medals while in service such as the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal Star and the Good Conduct Medal. Robert worked for 38 years as a model maker for Harrison Radiator retiring on March 1, 1988. He was a member of the Lockport United Church of Christ, Lockport, Willow Brook Golf Course and the USS Wisconsin Association. Robert enjoyed golfing, woodworking and more importantly being with his family.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife Ruth S. (Hooper) Laese; beloved father of Debra (James) Oates, Paula Sue (Randal) Horanburg, Lauri Ann (Dudley) Benedict and Mark Robert (Suzanne) Laese; cherished grandfather of Jason (Cindy), Melissa, John (Shannin) III Neden, Robert, Bryan (Katie), Stephanie Horanburg, Dudley (Kate), Megan Benedict, Renee, Broderick, Riley Laese and the late Felicia Ann Benedict; loving great grandfather of Alexis, Emily, Elise and Ben; brother of Donna (late Robert) Haley and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in Lockport United Church of Christ, 98 East Avenue, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.
